Why is it important that long-lived daf-2 mutants are healthy at both young and old ages? If the importance of insulin signaling in aging is translated across species, what are the implications for how it might influence “healthspan” in humans? How might studying aging be important for disease treatment? Q. Two possible reasons for the evolution of aging were mentioned in the lecture. What were they and what other possible reasons can you think of?
